I realize that my images take a long time to load. In an effort to increase the popularity of the site, I am compromizing image quality for speed on certain pages.
Hopefully I will be able to link these thumbnail images to better resolution images in the near future.

#01 Jackie's Betty Boop
This was the first woodburning I ever made.
I made it as a birthday present for my Daughter's 5th Birthday.

#2 Mickey Mouse
After I made Betty Boop, I decided that it wasn't too difficult so I drew Mickey on the wood and burnt it in. There is another image of Mickey on the other side, but I made a mistake on it, so I flipped it over and burned this image on the other side.
#03 Outback Bowl
I made this one before the game actually happened, and I simply intended to fill in the final winning Purdue score. Purdue got off to a 25-0 lead, but blew the game, losing 28-25 in OT. I learned a valuable lesson from this loss. Wait till after the game before you decide to immortalize the logo.
#04 Halloween Kids
This image is the one that got me interested in woodburning. I work where they had purchased a laser engraver that can reproduce imaged, and I wanted the laser to burn this in wood for me. Fortunately, it didn't work out, but it did remind me of the fact that I had bought a woodburner at a garage sale 2 years earlier.
#05 M.C. Escher's Rind
M.C. Escher is one of my favorite artists. He lived and worked around the turn of the last century.
I am generally interested in the contrasts that can be found in his pieces. If there was ever an artist I would want to emulate, it is he. He is one of the reasons why I have established a goal of creating 500 woodburnings during my lifetime. Escher reached a similar plateu, and I would like to do the same.
#06 The Simpsons
I love this show!! I have been a fan of the Simpsons as far back as when they were a part of the Tracy Ullman Show on FOX.
I can still remember sitting in my dorm room at Purdue on Sundays in 1986 and 1987 watching Tracy Ullman and eating a Bell's Pepperoni Pizza for .00.
#07 Pikachu
My kids begged me to give them the Simpsons pyrograph. When I refused, the only way they would stop pestering me was if I made one of Pikachu. I had a small scap of wood left over, so I used it to create this one.
#08 Stones Tongue
I created this one for the roommate from Purdue who was often eating the other half of the Bell's Pizza on Sunday nights. Eric Ragsdale is one of the biggests fans of the Rolling Stones, and I made this one for him.
#09 Bears Logo
I made this one for my boss at the time, Jim Glidden. Jim is the manager of the sign shop who bought the laser engraver that got me interested in pyrography. Since there is such a rivalry between Packer and Bear fans where I work, I wanted to provide Jim with something for his office.
#10 Picasso's Guernica
Pablo Picasso is one of my favorite artists. I was mezmerized by a very large poster of Guernica that hung in my Senior English class at St. Rita H.S. back when it was located on Claremont Avenue in Chicago. On day, Dr. Rackey who had this poster above the chalkboard, embarrassed me in front of the class for starting at it too much.
#11 Figure Seated in Chair
For a long time, I was not aware of the name of this piece by Picasso. I have since found out it is called "figure seated in chair", but I think I would have come up with a different name besides figure if you get my drift. This happens to be the favorite pyrograph of my cousin Rich X. Or simply X :-)
#12 Bucky Badger
I created this one for my coworker Lee Wnuk. It was his remarkable idea to place the "Wisconsin" Logo vertically to a tremendous effect. After completing this piece, I swore I would never burn pine again except for the one the blank I had already created. Pine is simply too difficult to burn because of the wood grain density.
#13 Split Rock
I made this one for my coworker Ann Underwood. Ann had a cube full of lighthouses, and I thought it was a very nice subject matter so I wanted to add to her collection. This was the first piece I burned on Poplar. Poplar was such a nice wood to burn, I do most pieces on Poplar now.
#14 Boilermaker Special
This piece now resides in the home of Bill Faulkner in New York. Bill was a roommate of both Eric Ragsdale and myself. I gave this to Billf when he came to Park Ridge, IL to visit his Father (G-man), Barbara, and their cat (Smurf). Bill chose this logo from among several that I sent to him via e-mail. It was my first choice as well.
